David William McLeod
July 2, 1957 – May 27, 2026
The Dorchester community and Dolphins family are saddened by the passing of Dave McLeod. A builder, leader, supporter, and friend of the organization from its very beginning.
As the first General Manager in Dorchester Dolphins Jr. C history, Dave played an instrumental role in bringing a competitive team back to Dorchester and helping establish the foundation of the organization. Through countless hours of work behind the scenes, he helped recruit local talent back to Dorchester for the inaugural season and was a driving force in building a team and culture that the community could be proud of.
Dave’s impact extended far beyond the title of General Manager. In the early years of the Jr. C Dolphins, he wore many hats and dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort to helping the Dolphins succeed both on and off the ice. His commitment to the organization helped establish a winning culture that continues to define Dolphins hockey today.
During his three seasons as General Manager, the Dolphins compiled an impressive 81-28-8 regular season record, reached three consecutive Yeck Division Finals, and captured the organization’s first-ever Yeck Division Championship in 2013-14. That championship run included a memorable seven-game Schmalz Cup quarter-final series against Essex, the deepest playoff run by a Yeck Division club in the league’s current alignment.
More importantly, Dave will be remembered for the relationships he built, the pride he took in the community, and the lasting impact he made on the players, staff, and volunteers who had the privilege of working alongside him.
A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Lions Active Living Centre at the Dorchester Community Centre. The celebration begins at 5:00 PM, with remembrances at 6:00 PM.
The thoughts of Dolphins Nation are with Deb, Michael, Melissa, and the entire McLeod family during this difficult time.
